We promise we will know your child for who they are.
At Bluebell Nursery, we look to a number of theorists when it comes to the techniques and strategies behind creating opportunities for development in every activity on offer. We don’t just follow one approach in our setting because every child is an individual; how we support their development needs to follow an approach that is personal to them. Our plans are supported by a host of the best theorists, again, rather than just one.
Here are some of our favourites. See if you can spot the profile that your child would respond well to!
The Reggio Emilia approach is all about child-led play, which we see bringing out their resourcefulness and encouraging them to see their environment as the third teacher.
We have Communication-Friendly Spaces (pioneered by Elizabeth Jarman) in every room, creating environments that promote children’s communication, language and listening skills. What children love about these spaces:
Freedom of choice
Cosy homely environment
Natural light, neutral environment

The Montessori approach is all about providing children with opportunities for preparing for life and a chance to be hands-on; so, we give them independence at snack time, and when it comes to intimate care, and getting themselves ready for outdoor learning. We also focus on curiosity, encouraging children to judge risks and problem-solve. We want young minds thinking for themselves.
Theorist Rudolf Steiner coined the Waldorf Approach, in which outdoor learning is as important as classroom-based activities. We support connections with nature and encourage bringing nature inside. Discussing the seasons and changes within the environment, such as weather, plants and animals, is included in our bespoke curriculum.
