A setting made for your little one.
Your child moves up a room when the time is right for them; here, it is all about the individual.
Your child’s journey begins here from 6 months and goes through to 4 years, when they are ready to begin their school journey at Langley. Children progress through the different rooms, starting as a Seedling, growing into an Acorn, then an Oak and, finally, blossoming in the Woodland room.
Our Seedlings room offers a calm, caring and nurturing environment that is fully set up to help your baby feel settled.
We aim to meet your child’s individual needs; all our babies have planned but flexible activities to stimulate them in a fun environment, working around patterns in line with those at home. Breastfeeding mothers are welcomed into the setting to feed if it is their wish to do so. We offer space for children to engage with resources and each other, tuff trays for sensory and messy play, plus a baby gym to help develop their muscles and strength. We work closely with parents to keep you informed about feeding, eating, changing and sleeping. This is supported by Tapestry – an online portal that you can log into securely to see your child’s ‘learning journey’.
THE SLEEP ROOM
We have a calm and tranquil sleep room that is set up with cots and sleep areas. This separates play and sleep spaces, providing the children with a calm and peaceful environment to nap.
In our Acorns room, children continue to develop independent life skills and attain key early years goals within a calm, nurturing environment. Within this space, we prioritise these key learning domains:
– Communication and language
– Creativity
– Fine and gross motor skills
– General knowledge
– Understanding of the world
Encouraged by qualified and attentive staff, activities are carefully planned to support your child’s development.
In Oaks, children will explore, discover, learn and develop the skills they need for life. Our focus in Oaks is to continue to support the primary areas of learning whilst preparing your child for their journey through school. Here, your child will have lots of fun with creative play and explore our woodland area during Outdoor Learning sessions. They will also enjoy story, sensory and music activities. It is a nurturing environment with a little more emphasis on encouraging children to become independent and getting them ready for the move up to our Woodland class.
Our Woodland facility is the next stage of your child’s exciting journey. Once your child has blossomed in their development journey is toilet trained, and we feel they are ready, they will begin transition sessions to our Woodland space. The focus in this classroom is to continue to support and nurture your child, with a little more emphasis on encouraging them to become independent. Woodland Nursery houses our very own ‘Bluebell Town’; a classroom with highly developed technology and a free flow outside exploration area for the children to access throughout the day.
Our Pre-Prep also offers a pre-Reception class, called Transition, for 3 to 4 year olds. It’s perfect for little ones who have perhaps outgrown Nursery but are not yet of school age.
With our very own “exceptionally well-designed curriculum” [Ofsted, 2024], used in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, we support your child’s progression at a rate that suits their own individual needs. As your child grows and develops, we will monitor their progress carefully before moving them to the next stage of their Nursery journey.
Each child is allocated a Key Person – a named member of staff who has responsibility for working with you and meeting your child’s individual needs. We aim to make your child’s education happy, rewarding, positive and fun. We celebrate interests, talents and individual personalities. We provide a comforting, secure and stimulating environment that gives your child the confidence to learn, make friends and be an all-important part of our incredibly special school.
